Copyright / DMCA Policy

Effective 2026-10-03 · Last updated 2026-10-03

Copyright policy

The Hall respects copyright and expects contributors to submit only material they own, are authorized to provide, reasonably believe is in the public domain, or otherwise have a lawful basis to use. We may remove or restrict material when credible copyright concerns arise.

Notice of claimed infringement

If you believe material on the Hall infringes copyright, send a written notice containing substantially the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3):

  1. A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act for the copyright owner.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed, or a representative list if multiple works are involved.
  3. Identification of the allegedly infringing material and information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it, preferably including the exact Hall URL.
  4. Your name and reasonably sufficient contact information, including address, telephone number and email if available.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner of the exclusive right allegedly infringed.

You may provide this information through the Legal & Content Notice form by selecting “Copyright / DMCA notice.”

Counter-notification

If your material is removed in response to a copyright notice and you believe it was removed because of mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification meeting the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g), including your signature, identification of the removed material and former location, the required statement under penalty of perjury, and the legally required consent to jurisdiction and service of process. Do not submit a counter-notice unless you understand its legal effect.

Repeat infringers

Where appropriate, the Hall may terminate or revoke contributor access for users who repeatedly infringe copyright or repeatedly submit material that is removed for infringement. We also reserve the right to remove material based on credible evidence even when a notice does not perfectly satisfy every statutory requirement.

Preservation and forwarding

We may preserve copyright notices, counter-notices, relevant records and evidence, and may forward a notice or counter-notice to the affected contributor or rights holder as permitted or required by law.

DMCA designated agent

Eligibility for the 17 U.S.C. § 512 safe harbors requires, among other things, a properly designated agent registered with the U.S. Copyright Office and publicly available designated-agent information. The Hall operator must complete and maintain that registration separately. The Legal & Content Notice form remains available for copyright complaints regardless of safe-harbor status.

No legal advice

This policy describes the Hall’s process and does not provide legal advice. Knowingly materially misrepresenting infringement or removal grounds can have legal consequences.
